This was my first shelf exam! It was a nice introduction into clinical rotations. Studying during clinical rotations is different than basic sciences due to having a fluctuating schedule on most days. Depending on the day and hospital workload, the amount of practice questions I did varied. I tried to keep it as consistent as possible whenever I could and studied at the hospital if there was less going on. I utilized Online Med Ed videos to get a foundation of the concepts and solidified the information with UWorld questions. I skimmed through First Aid for Psychiatry and watched a YouTube video to refresh high-yield concepts before the exam! I read through my UW notes again before the exam day as well. The NBME practice exams were a very good predictor of the actual shelf exam so I highly recommend doing those before your shelf exam.

Overall, the Psych shelf was fair. The clinical experience at the hospital was super helpful and similar to the vignettes!! This rotation was very memorable and fun. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
