Do you find yourself spending hours writing notes?
That needs to change!
When I was starting medical school, I felt the need to write everything on every slide in my notes. I spent hours writing down everything on the slides and was drained by the end of it! However, I soon got tired of doing all of that work and felt that I was not having enough time to review the slides and retain the information.
I knew that writing helps me organize my thoughts and needed a way to efficiently write notes.
If you are like me and need a way to go through lectures, write down important information in a concise and organized manner and want something to refer back to while you are studying, this method will definitely help!
Time Yourself - I give myself one hour to write notes per lecture. This will help you stay on track and focus on writing important information without getting lost in the details.
Focus on Important Information - Look for clues in the lectures. The professors will often emphasize important concepts and key ideas by bolding, underlining or changing the colour of high-yield information.
Practice Questions - Don’t be scared to do practice questions early in your studying. A lot of my students feel the need to memorize everything before they attempt practice questions. However, doing practice questions early on will help you focus on the high-yield concepts and will allow you to write efficient notes as well!

You can use my notes to get an idea of how you can set-up your own notes and what topics to focus on.
I hope these tips help you with creating concise, high-yield notes!
Good luck studying,
